Working alongside Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology, the largest tertiary education provider in the Bay of Plenty, Student Pulse have made the decision to employ a Business Development Manager who will be focusing on establishing a presence in Tauranga. Toi Ohomai serves a broad geographic area and the need for student support is necessary at all campuses, Tauranga in particular.
Pieter de Zwart has been appointed as he brings years of expertise and business experience in the sectors of social support and education. Pieter will be building creating presence for Student Pulse a peer mentoring program at the Windermere Campus and Bongard Centre. Pieter will also be seeking to establish new relationships with key people in the wider Tauranga community, both with business, local body and community organisations.
Pieter is particularly experienced in matters affecting newcomers to New Zealand, having immigrated to New Zealand from Holland in the 1980s. Prior to moving to New Zealand, Pieter enjoyed a career in aviation with the Royal Netherlands Air Force and National Police Force. In New Zealand he has worked for more than two decades in immigration services, career guidance and education as well as in many different industries and roles, both commercial and not for profit. Pieter also has strong governance experience having worked with organisations such as the Auckland Regional Migrant Services, community groups, CAB and Multicultural Tauranga. He is also teaching the Professional Speaking for Migrants course, a facilitator for Multicultural Tauranga and is a Justice of the Peace.
